Our firm advised an Italian pasta manufacturer in the context of a dispute before the Commercial Court of Brussels concerning the application of the Belgian law of July 27, 1961 relating to the termination of exclusive sales concessions of indefinite duration. This law, now incorporated in Title X of the Belgian Economic Code, is extremely protective of the interests of distributors established in Belgium. We succeeded in obtaining a substantial reduction in the indemnities requested by the distributor, first after the trial and then in the context of extra-judicial negotiations.
